Read-only keys

A read-only key cannot change anything. The assistant does not even see the editing tools.

Keys stored safely

Only a hash of each key is stored and the full key is shown once. Revoke a key and its access stops.

No deleting forms

No tool deletes a form, and you get a builder link to review each new form. Removing a field keeps the answers already collected.

Audit trail

Changes made through a key appear in your audit log. Only workspace owners and super admins can manage keys.

MCP server questions

What is an MCP server for forms?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools. The FormBuilder MCP server gives your assistant secure access to the forms, responses and analytics in your workspace.

Which AI assistants work with FormBuilder?

Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and VS Code work today with an API key. Claude Desktop also needs Node.js. claude.ai and ChatGPT connections are not available yet.

Can an AI assistant delete my forms?

No. There is no tool for deleting forms. An edit key can create, rename and change forms and remove fields, so give edit access only to assistants you trust.

Does my response data go to the AI provider?

When you ask about responses, those answers are sent to the assistant you connected and handled under its provider's terms. If responses hold sensitive data, check those terms first. Nothing is shared until you connect an assistant.

Does MCP access cost extra?

MCP access is included on every plan and does not use AI credits. Your assistant may have its own subscription or usage costs.

Which fields can an assistant add?

Short text, long text, email, phone, number, date, website, single choice, checkboxes, dropdown and yes/no. For other field types, use the form builder.
