Real-Time — Frequently Asked Questions

What does "real-time" mean in FormBuilder?
Every time a visitor opens your form, completes a step, or submits a response, the event is pushed to your dashboard over a persistent WebSocket connection — typically arriving in under a second. Nothing is polled. Counters, charts, maps, and feeds all update as the events happen.
Do I need to install anything to use the real-time dashboard?
No. Real-time is on by default on every plan. Open the Real-Time page in your dashboard and you will immediately see your active visitors on the world map, live KPI cards, and the live activity feed. No extensions, no setup.
How accurate is the live world map?
Visitor locations are derived from their IP geolocation at a country level and are updated as new visitors arrive. Privacy is preserved — we never show street-level detail. Dots scale with the visitor count in each country, and the legend underneath lists totals per country.
Do real-time Slack and email notifications cost extra?
No. Real-time delivery is the default for all notification channels (email, Slack, webhooks). The same WebSocket event that powers your dashboard update also triggers your configured integrations — at the same instant.
What happens if my internet drops?
The WebSocket reconnects automatically as soon as the network is back. Any events that occurred during the disconnect are fetched and replayed into your feed, so nothing is missed. You never need to refresh the page.
Is the real-time connection secure?
Yes. Every WebSocket connection uses TLS (WSS), is authenticated against your workspace, and is scoped per team. Data never leaks across workspaces, and when a team member is removed, their live connection is revoked immediately.
Can my whole team watch the same real-time dashboard at once?
Yes. Every teammate holds their own connection. New events appear for everyone simultaneously, and when anyone triages a response, the change (marked read, archived, noted) is reflected on every other teammate's screen in real time.
