How do respondents sign a form?
The Signature Pad field gives them two options: draw the signature directly — with a mouse on desktop, or a finger or stylus on touch devices — or upload an image of their signature.
Is a signature collected this way legally binding?
FormBuilder captures a signature image together with the form submission. It is not a certified e-signature service — there are no signing certificates, identity verification, or legal audit trails. Whether a captured signature meets the requirements for your document type depends on your jurisdiction and use case, so please consult your legal counsel.
Where do I find the signatures people submit?
Each signature is stored with its submission. Open the response in the Response Inbox to view and download the signature, or export the whole response to PDF with the signature rendered inside.
Are signatures stored securely?
Yes. Signature images are stored encrypted at rest with AES-256, the same envelope encryption applied to every file uploaded through your forms.
Can I make the signature mandatory?
Yes — mark the Signature Pad as required and the form cannot be submitted without a signature, like any other required field.
Can I collect terms acceptance together with the signature?
Yes. Add the Terms & Conditions field next to the Signature Pad — it shows a consent checkbox linking to your terms and privacy policy, so one submission carries both the agreement and the signature.
